The design brief called for construction of a second floor on the existing single-storey building that was not structurally designed to take it.

Our approach was to suspend the upper floor across the original building and link the two parts together to look like one complete design.

Louvres and lighting control have been used to minimise heat gain and energy use while retaining views from the inside and enhancing the exterior appearance.
